The Med Wave company, which has had sanctions imposed by the European Union for violating the arms embargo imposed on Libya, has no ties to Jordan whatsoever, said the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dhaifallah Ali Al-Fayez, on Tuesday.

The location alleged to be the headquarters of the company in Amman according to address information in international documents, was found to be non-existent after investigation by designated authorities, said Al-Fayez.

Field inspections showed the presence of another company which is a limited liability company registered with the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Their accounts are currently seized by the Amman attorney general in favor of income tax, as a result of company losses and has been closed since 2013, Al-Fayez added.

Ownership of the company belongs to two persons, a Jordanian and another Arab national. Bankruptcy was declared due to financial claims against him in his country and properties were confiscated.

All the information that refutes the company’s claims will be forwarded to the relevant international authorities for further investigation, he added.

Al-Fayez added Jordan supports decisions banning arms to Libya and provided full cooperation to answer all questions posed by the concerned UN sanctions committee.

He also pledged the Kingdom’s support to reach a political solution for the Libyan crisis through a political dialogue between Libyan parties in accordance with the approved references in a manner that preserves the unity of Libya and fulfills the aspirations of its people.
